I wanted to share some info that might interest you.

 

For almost 15 years I have been an active member of a close-knit freestyle RP/chat community called WBS - World Broadcasting System.  I have mostly just played a large variety of characters there, but have also ran a few RP/Chat rooms myself.  I have met hundreds of good friends through this network and have many that I am still very close friends with.  I have gotten the chance to hang out with them in their state or country and they have likewise made trips to visit me.  I have had the pleasure of them joining me for LARP games (a few of them are now in love with LARP because of this), Conventions, the Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade Ball, Gatherings, and other SoCal Events.

 

The reason I share this info, is not just to promote WBS, but to share with you the news that I am again running a RP/Chat room on this network.  This time it is different, however, as I have decided to tie in my LARP event, Xatrian Crux, to the room.  You can now bring in your existing characters from both Xatrian Crux and other LARPs, and also bring in brand new characters to play with.  You can RP or just chat with another person who may or may not be a LARPer themselves (it is open to LARPers and the general online RPer), and you can choose to submit a summary of your RP session to me, the room and LARP owner, to have the storyline/characters/etc included in the actual LARP itself.

 

To join in, please first visit the special WBS Intro and Entrance Page I created for all of you (see link below).  I created a quick start section (for all those who wish to chat OOC, chat IC, RP, help me run my room, or run a room of their own).

 

Currently, my room is the only LARP-related room on the network, but there are many freestyle RP rooms you might enjoy there too.  I am presently adding new features to my chat room, but it is up and running and I encourage you to stop by my room, invite someone in for a chat or RP, explore the network, or hang out and welcome others. 

 

Please Note: You might see that the room is very quiet sometimes - at least during the start up period.  Some moments are busier than others during the day/night.  I will make a point to be there at least once a day, as this room is brand new and will take a little while to gain in popularity, as my other rooms in the past have done.  Fortunately, I have a reliable group of RPers who already use the network and will show up as soon as I alert them to my new room (doing this today).  I want to get this place jumpin' at a comfy minimum of at least 10 players per day like my other rooms were.

My room is "LARP: Xatrian Crux".  Registration is free on WBS and it is easy to start.  The link above will give you the basics to begin chatting with a character, but if you get confused, just shoot me an email or ask me in the room itself.

The LARPSpace.com Main Site front page will be revised this week with new graphics, modules/displays, and more.  I've additionally been working on updating the various other Groups with photos and forum news, along with Rick's help.  Please feel free to do the same and let me know if you need any help getting started.  :)

I'm happy to see many of you have joined up!  As some of you saw, I redid the main page with a new calendar area.  I will be redoing the main page again soon.

Viewing: Please be aware that larpspace.com is best viewed in Firefox currently.  If you are finding the pages looking strange, make sure you have the latest version of whichever browser you are using, if it's still strange, try viewing it with Firefox, and lastly, make sure to dump your internet temp files and refresh the webpage.  If you are still having problems, please let me know.

Also, I found that only a Larp Space Group's creator can update the group's info and calendar which sucks.  I am working to change this.  For now, if there is an event you wish to add to a group's calendar, please contact myself or Rick.

Next, Iron Liege head smithy Greg has informed me of a Yahoo Group Join Button kink.  I am currently working with the company I go through to fix the glitch - He added the above button's code to his page and it caused all the buttons on his page to use only the yahoo link he'd attached to the button.  It prevented him from editing his profile from that point on.  This problem could also occur with other buttons that you try to post, so please let me know if this happens to you too.  You can email me at xatrian@yahoo.com.  We should soon have a site-global fix for this.

Hello everyone,

I am adding new modules/functions/whatchacallems and such daily right now with my own brain's ideas, those I find at other similar community sites, and those that are being suggested to me.  I recently moved LARP Space to it's permanent home as well, so there's been alot of adjusting.

We would like to give you more ways to share your interests, characters, locations, larp experience and more.  It may take a little while to do this, so please hang on with me.  Additionally, I am helping Iron Liege ( http://www.ironliege.com ) do a site revamp!  I am also redoing the LARP Alliance website, and a few other unrelated and related websites for myself and for other people.

Rick and I are trying our best to gather info on the latest events and post them up as always - for now, we're moving through the various online communities (myspace, yahoo, larp sites, etc) sharing and gathering info. We're managing to get a bit of LARP play in here and there, support and promote the various larps we can find, bring new folk into the hobby, and share our resources.  We have much to do!

We're honestly more than broke, and trying our hardest to keep the LARP Van (aka LARP Bus) in our possession to help vanpool people to events rather than sell it to pay the bills.  Universal recently hired me for a movie that includes larp in it, helping them as a technical advisor and assisting with the casting process (bringing in fellow larpers), so I'm on tap for them and learning quite a bit, which I greatly appreciate (it's a comedy movie, so larp will not be taken as seriously as many of us would often like, but it should be entertaining).  That job will end soon though and has not kept me very active in the work force lately.  Thanks to friends and new job opp ideas, I have hope.

Soon we will be holding another LARP Alliance Meeting and Gathering as well. More on that later.  Right now, I'm going to try to catch up with a few things and then drink some herbal tea to relax myself into sleep mode.  I have a nasty cold and so much work to do.
