    Ravenswood Leather

Tuesday, April 8, 2008, 07:10 AM PST [General]

    Oh. My. God.

Ravenswood Leather clothing is across from my inn at Faire.

(Do a google for Ravenswood Leather and be prepared to wipe drool off your keyboard.)

    I WANT.

Seriously though; their prices are excellent for the items they have, even their online catalog reflects this. Shameless free promotion for a company I am adoring.  It looks like Pendragon Designs will have to step up their game.  Bout time too...

    Really Let Down

Thursday, April 3, 2008, 07:21 PM PST [General]

    Wow. I'm a little depressed...

I find a way to bring live action role-play to the Ren Faire and a tiny handful of people express interest. I'm so worried this will crash and burn...

Here is a chance for RP at Faire, an original story to explore and quest in... and nobody seems to care.

I'm pretty sure if our original sponsor had come through,  things would be vastly different. Someone up in the corporate level of the Faire itself seemed hellbent on keeping the creative people out of the process and now we all suffer from it.

I've been putting in long days and nights working on the props; thousands of handpainted tokens for resources and XP markers.  I'm at the shop right now.

Maybe I'm just scared because I feel like Robin and I are going at this alone; we've gotten minimal support from our own development team.  I'm very thankful for the friends who've lent support and time to this, but it still feels like we're very alone.

Here's hoping people come and play. Here's hoping people enjoy it.

    Order of the Raven

Tuesday, March 25, 2008, 07:45 AM PST [General]

The game I've spoken of has drastically been altered but perhaps this is for the best...

It still runs akin to a video game - with quests available based off level and some which are cut-scenes for plot exposition.  It is a fully linear event with some repeatable quests for fun.  XP is just a way of keeping track of what's been finished; there are currently no classes or stats.

This is mostly a way to introduce LARP and Video-game style play to the Faire and to the general populace.

Announcing The Order of the Raven: Unseen Forces

Using traditional Shakespearian, Celtic, and English folklore, we've woven a new game around a secret society known as the Order of the Raven.  The Order consists of both fae and mortals who have banded together to stand against the dark forces that may rise against Crown and Country.

We still need NPCs for some key parts.  You would be given free admittance to the Faire, free parking, and a fun place to role play and improv.

You need at least a mostly passable costume. If you have nothing Elizabethan enough you'll be one of the Fae that stays hidden inside the Oak Cross Inn.

We're going to be really flexible!

The game itself will go live on 3rd weekend, so that 1st and 2nd can either be spent at Live Effects or preparing the Inn and testing parts.

If you're interested, let me know.

Who wants to NPC at the Ren Faire?

Tuesday, February 5, 2008, 03:54 PM PST [General]

    Hello friends!

The world famous Renaissance Pleasure Faire of Southern California is trying a new experiment which was inspired by yours truly in her bored moments...

We are running an interactive gaming experience for our patrons and Faire-goers which will require the services of many talented and creative NPC types.  We are looking for volunteers to staff these roles to act as both generic NPCs and some key cast parts.

    You must:
Be able to interact with patrons on a daily basis and play to their desires; if they want to go all out and RP play along. If they just want you to give them their info and let them be off, so be it.
Be in possession of a historically semi-authentic costume which must pass inspection by the Costume Mistress
Be able to speak at least the very basic Faire dialect (Called Basic Faire Accent)
Be able to have a good time

The Crafter's Guild is looking for new members who can think on their feet as well as recite pre-planned scripted dialogue.  Perks are you get in FREE to the Faire and get to spend your day LARPing and interacting with customers.  There is no pay, but if you wanted to spend a few hours on a legit job for cash you'd be welcome to.

The cast call is going to be 10am to 2pm at the Doubletree in Monrovia. The address is 924 W. Huntington Drive, Monrovia, CA 91016.

This is a purely Non-Comb role.  You would need costuming for a peasant or craftsperson. No nobles or exotic stuff. You must look, act, and sound like you're an Elizabethan.  You're not, but that's a story for another day.....

Come see me if you're interested and make the signups THIS SATURDAY THE 9TH in Monrovia, CA.  Again, The cast call is going to be 10am to 2pm at the Doubletree in Monrovia. The address is 924 W. Huntington Drive, Monrovia, CA 91016.

    Watch this Space...

Tuesday, February 5, 2008, 03:10 PM PST [General]

In my continued role as Larp Ambassador/Facilitator I have been asked to head a very very interesting project at the world famous Southern California Renaissance Pleasure Faire.

My skills in writing, sketching, and scripting are paying off. I'm on the design and implimentation board for a project that I can't talk about just yet but would need the help of our LARPing friends to make a reality.

How'd you like to LARP all day at the Faire and get in for free to do it?

    More details to follow...
