This is simply a copy of the letter I've been trying to send and have sent to news stations. Anyone who holds a practice independently in the area, I encourage to join up as a Fighter's Guild chapter, the benefits and the resources would be helpful to all! I will contact all relevant parties!
===================================================
To whomever it concerns:
I am writing to you on behalf of the Larp Alliance and the Fighter's Guild [of the Larp Alliance]. Last Friday, the Universal film "Role Models" premiered in national theaters, and it highlighted a fictious LARP called LAIRE. LARP is an acronym for Live Action RolePlay.
The pertinence of the Larp Alliance in this letter is the fact that Adrianne Grady of the LARP Alliance was hired onto the movie as technical advisor for the LAIRE portions of the movie and the Larp Alliance is credited at the end of the film under the "Thanks to" portion. Adrianne can be found every Thursday at a neighborhood park in Rancho Cucamonga, CA hosting a fighter practice. We would like you to run a story on LARP Alliance and the Fighter's Guild practices to inform the public and anyone who'd be interested in this kind of hobby that we are a viable resource for them to get involved through. The Fighter's Guild is currently setting up five locations in Socal, two of which are set, Anaheim and Rancho Cucamonga, and we are trying to officially establish Canoga Park, Alhambra and Lake Elsinore. The Guild website is under construction, but should be up by the end of the week. I'll establish pertinent links at the closing of this letter.
We also use a networking site like MySpace.com called Larpspace.com. This is the community hub for Larpers around the country. As the LARP Alliance, we do everything that we can to help promote and support the LARP community in the country, we are just a few days away from establishing a non-profit status as an educational group, since we also collaborate in workshops, and classes, and also providing tools necessary to attend or run LARPs.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Just to keep things clear, I will be sending this letter to other major news stations in the Los Angeles, Inland Empire, and Orange County areas. I hope you will grant us a chance for a proper news story to highlight this immersive and creative hobby!
Sincerely, Ramsey Rickabaugh Head of the Fighter's Guild Member of the LARP Alliance

The Fighter's Guild would like to send its support for the NPC effort to ApocaLARP from Friday Evening into Sunday Morning. The actual game will be all day Saturday, but set up will be Friday night and tear down Sunday morning.
Anyone who wishes to come NPC is recommended to join the Larp Bus on Friday night because the actual game site has VERY limited parking (8 vehicle spaces). Rick McCoy will be driving the NPCs to the game Friday evening, dropping them off, and picking them up Sunday morning.
This game is done in a near future setting, requiring no period garb, but I do suggest you bring anything survivalist (camo, drab outdoor clothing, zombie stuff). This is a big time zombie game.
Bring camping supplies (tent, sleeping bag, what not), and maybe a camp stove if you've got one, we're still in fire season. We will be helping with some amenities if you're joining us on the bus!
Who's in!?
-Ramsey
If you wish to sign up for staff (NPC), it's a $5 prepay before 10/8 here: http://www. onlineeffects. net/shop/catalog/product_info. php?products_id=207
Otherwise, you can cough over $10 on game day.

Realms Of Conflict will be holding their game this weekend from the 12th to the 14th. They will have an influx of about 70 players and not enough NPCs to back the numbers. The Fighter's Guild is making a call-to-arms for all NPCs who wish to rally this thing and make it work. THIS IS A LAST MINUTE ALERT!!! There was no forewarning about this, I just found this out two hours ago.
The influx is the result of NeroWest's hiatus and closing for this season. A lot of those players will be jumping into RoC. My participation is yet to be determined, I have a lot on my plate this weekend, but who thinks they can rally up numbers Northward?

The Fighter's Guild is proud to announce that all 20 seats for two vehicles have been filled for this road trip to Realms Of Conflict.
I want to thank everyone for their consideration and especially everyone who jumped on board to make this trip happen.
The purpose of this effort is to port SoCal players to one of NorCal's premiere combat larps, Realms of Conflict (originally Adventures Unlimited). Although the effort is largely an NPC supplement, SoCalers are also given the option of PCing for the game if they choose to.
An effort like this is most exciting, and I would like it to serve as an example and a reminder to any other LARPs in California the kind of manpower and resources the Fighter's Guild could provide to pretty much any game you run. If you would like to see more numbers at your combat LARPs, please contact the Fighter's Guild and we can work out an arrangement to help resource and promote your game.
Also, players looking for some fighting action and combat LARP, this is a good resource to get your feet wet and start develop the skills and acquiring the tools necessary to jump right in!

A return to Realms of Conflict!!
We'll be bussing it up together under the banner of the Fighter's Guild and the Larp Alliance.
Realms of Conflict is a Northern California Combat LARP that has been instrumental in the formation of many SoCal LARPS. It's fast-paced and intense with a high player-character mortality risk.
Our goal is to get up there with a troop of NPCs to supplement their numbers and bring a good game to the players.
We have a 15 passenger Van to fill up, and if we're over capacity, we can add 1 or 2 additional vehicles to the bunch.
If there are any medical issues that we need to be concerned about (i.e., diabetes, severe allergies, epilepsy, HIV, etc.), please understand that this a highly active and close quarters game, and if you have anything that may be contagious to others, or you have a problem with coming in contact with any particular food or matter, PLEASE, let me, Rick or Adrianne know so that we may better prepare the trip and look out for everyone's safety and to address these concerns.
Contributions toward gas would be appreciated, but are not necessarily required. We need to cover a gas cost of about $160.
ALSO, on a more personal contribution, we're in fact buying Rick's time off work. Without this personal contribution, Rick would not be able to come up North at all with us, and without him, we would also be losing Adrianne and the 15 passenger van, and loads of weapons, costuming, props and armor. The personal contribution would be a total of $300 split in any number of ways depending on who wishes to contribute, for example, if four of us were to pony up a contribution, we would each be paying $75 toward that total. Please bare in mind that this contribution is in addition to the gas cost as a separate effort. We ask those only those who can really put forth and who really would like to see Rick and Adrianne participate, as they bring a lot of life, love and comeraderie to the game.
You can message me directly or contact Rick or Adrianne for more information. Thank you!
-Ramsey

Well, it seems we have 7 confirmed players joining us on this trip to San Jose for Realms of Conflict's July 18-20 weekend event!
There is still room for anyone interested. For those who are, here's what to bring: -Black clothes -changes of socks and underwear -camping supplies like tent/sleeping bag (I have a family tent to lend that can fit up to 4 people) -towel, shampoo, soap, & sandals for showers -toothbrush & toothpaste -clean change of clothes for the trip back -a totally eager enthusiasm to give the PCs one HELL of a game!
Also, feel free to bring money for eating on the road and if you intend on contributing gas money (the whole trip gas wise costs about $320 roundtrip, just to give you an idea).
When the Fighter's Guild gets its whole thing going, trips like this won't cost so much for players, and ideally, would be funded completely by the Fighter's Guild.
Thanks for all your interest and support!

I have recently encountered a few good things in the past month; Dying Kingdoms and Realms of Conflict. Both of these are good games, fast and furious, and they have zombies and undead!
I'm the fresh face on the scene. Wet behind the ears, innocent, yet eager! VERY eager! I feel as if I've struck a good chord with a few of the kids down here in SoCal, and it seems I've struck a greater chord with the folks up around San Jose!

I haven't gotten used to all the calls yet and what they mean. My style of play is more "roll-with-the-punches." If you hit me in the face with a blind spell via a sack of seed, I'll take it, because the irony is JUST THAT GOOD!! Coming into this from a primarily Dagorhir full-contact scale, I completely thirst for the more physical aspects of these games. I'm still adjusting to the permission-to-physical-roleplay thing. I'll just keep track of players who are into it and those who would avoid it.

Calling damage, however, isn't that hard! I look forward to participating to in more games. I hope to see more of the same old crowds and some new fresh faces! Thanks so far everyone, especially Rick and Adrianne for their support and encouragement in this new hobby of mine... and Greg of Iron Liege for crafting some awesome gear!

So Saturday was so anticipatory for me! The week almost never ended, and I couldn't wait for my first full-contact battle game... Dagorhir was on the horizon! After inquiring into it, I was extended an invitation. Then Friday arrived before Saturday.
It rained! Oh, no! And I heard it would rain all weekend!
Bah! No matter! I was determined to go. But, alas, imagine my joy at seeing the sun smiling on the day on Saturday! Not a drop of rain in sight... just some bitter cold and breeze. Brrrrr, but I marched forward, and I got to the park just in time. They were JUST hanging up the banner.
Mordaughk gave me and Chacho the run down as Vaida and Fish were sparring some warm-ups. We were getting into our first fights when my sis and her boyfriend showed up. The numbers were now upwards of 10 heads for the skirmish (I think it ended up being 9, then later on 8). What fun! The swings of glory, the screams of death! The shock of charging with a spear and losing your arm, then having to drop your weapon and run the other way! And let's not forget the Zombie War (it could've been more intense had we set some field boundaries).
Everyone was very kind and supportive. The games were fun, and the afternoon was satisfied. Then it was OFF to East LA for Fish Tacos!

Coming up next, Amtgard!

...Hell, there was blood on my fingers just to prove it! As a few of you out there may know, I'm fairly new... okay, VERY new to the LARPing community. My only contact with LARP and boffing in general has mostly been through group sites and what not; research on wikipedia, Lukrain's guide to boffer, dark ages, and other things, but I've never been able to participate in anything.
Until last weekend!
With the LARP gathering that went on this Sunday, despite that Eidolon was running a game concurrently on the calendar (but not actually to the event as it turned out), our turn out wasn't impressive, but everyone was in good spirits. Looking at the Iron Liege weapons on display were enough to make one drool, with their immaculate detail and wield-friendly balance, not to mention the welcome wagon for newbies was involving, accepting and most of all encouraging. The authorities gave us a bit of a stripe, and were damned closed to squashing the day... I'm just glad Boing Boing TV didn't get to do their spot on us, nobody seems to trust that damned blonde lady!
But the game was on, and the people of Belarafona suffered a most heinous and slaughtering defeat at the hands of the Draconians, who were ruthless with their antics and merciless with their deaths! Sure I had my head chopped off and my gold plundered... but it was worth it, I tell you!
Thanks to the LARP Alliance and Dark Ages for making my first time rather unforgettable! I can't wait to attend the next event and see you folks again! I can't wait to see the pictures from the event!
