About Me: 27, or close enough. I am a member of Nerdcore. I enjoy the LARPs I have attended and will continue to attend. College is over and was a breeze! Unfortunately, I need to get back to work for my health and for my wallet. My roommates have a cat, I am jealous because my landlady won't let me have one so I have to settle on Calla lilies. They are my favorite. I like gaming in all forms. I guess the mental challenge and the hand/eye coordination stuff keeps my simple mind amused. I was paralyzed in the Marine Corp. I can walk again. I have had my appendix and Gall bladder removed. I had to in order to make myself more aerodynamic for jogging and what have you.I love the movies. I like learning to sew, it is fun but expensive. I like goofing off most of the time. I love all my friends very much and very platonic(so do not be afraid to be my friend. lol ) There is too much more to write on myself so I will leave it at that and if you have any questions feel free to ask ^_^.
Music: Currently, I am listening to Yuki Kajiura's works in various anime/video games. I enjoy it.
Movies: Recently I have seen Dark knight, and will soon watch Role Models.

    I like:
Fifth element, Dark Crystal, Masters of the universe, Night at the Roxbury, Starship troopers 1(and only 1),
Just about all the Comic-turned-big screen movies(the good ones, not the mistakes like Elektra and whatnot) Labyrinth, Young guns, Full metal Jacket, All most all comedies... the list is too big and it is late.
    TV: What's that?
Books: Starwars EU. Einstein's Bridge. Various Shakespeare workings. Various Edgar Allen Poe workings. Of mice and men. L.E. Modesitt works. R.A. Salvatore before the Forgotten dreams novels.Brent Weeks' "The Night Angel Trilogy"

Dislikes: I don't like asparagus. I do not like spinach cooked. I don't like drama. I hate being idle for too long. I don't like mean people.
Hobbies: erg. I am a hobbyist. I have a hobby of collecting hobbies.
Vices: None really. I drink very rarely, not that I refrain, it is just I don't go to clubs and don't go out just to buy booze. If I am out with friends and the option is available and I am not driving then I can put it away like a champ. Although, just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you should.
I can't think of any others at the moment.
Virtues: Respect. Kindness. I am really light-hearted about most things.

I admit I become too comfortable around people and forget my place sometimes and I might say something funny or lewd that someone may be offended by.
    Heroes: My Dad, Frank Sr.
    Harrison Ford-Best movies ever!
Anyone who stands up for what they believe in, even if it means making enemies out of "Friends" (although friends should hold similar values as your own.)

    Avegost Larp in Georgia

    Tuesday, January 12, 2010, 11:25 PM [General]

Hello everyone! I have been in Georgia for a month and a toss of days now and been looking forward to Avegost Larp. It is a monthly larp that boasts some of the best roleplaying in the area. Most of the players operate on the principle that "Rules are guidelines to encourage  plot progression and character growth." As opposed to the all to common misconception that rules are meant to make your character more powerful. I have seen many of the photos of the events they have held and heard what players have had to say and it sounds promising. Plus it offers perhaps the cheapest game in GA at a mere 35 dollars for a weekend event with full access facilities (Cabins, showers, and restrooms)!

After going through the character creation process, I have to say that I haven't seen so much available content or world information. The "Knowne world" of Aveogst is huge and the countries are unique and have in-depth literature to investigate to help flesh out your character well. I was shocked at how well developed the information for the politcal and religious arena were. Every detail has been seen to, even the in-game date is interesting. I was asked to create a character that I wanted to play*before* I looked at the abilities and skills. So I decided to try something new and go with a non-combatant character and created a smith. After I read up on current events in the world, ( and it was quite the read! ) I decided on where my concept fit in to the world. Then it was off to flesh out my background based on the information provided. normally I have trouble finding enough content to fill two pages for a background. With Avegost, I was able to hit 5 pages easy and then decided to stop before I got carried away with it, though I doubt the staff would have minded. So with my character's background all fleshed out I headed to pick out skills.

Avegost had a plethora of skills to choose from and their elemental affinities make for individualized characters as well as stick to in-game archetypes. I focused on making my smith just that. There were many merits and abilities designed with the craft-driven player in mind. It was almost refreshing to be stepping away from the fighting style. I found that there are many skills that provide synergy while preventing someone from min-maxing too much ( though there is one or two players that have as there is "that guy" in every game. ) With skills in hand, I sent my character off to the plot so that they could review it and let me know any important information the character may know.

And with that I await the game anxiously in the end of February. It will be my first event and shall not be my last if the game is half as good as it has been promoted to me. For all of you folks who live in Georgia, come on out and try the game out. We all have our games that we will always like, but remember that diversity not only engages you as a person, it helps out the community at large! So all of you NERO and SOLAR folks come on out and enjoy a game that is a break away from the norm. Come out and enjoy the engaging world of AVEGOST.
