    Avegost Larp in Georgia

    Tuesday, January 12, 2010, 11:25 PM [General]

Hello everyone! I have been in Georgia for a month and a toss of days now and been looking forward to Avegost Larp. It is a monthly larp that boasts some of the best roleplaying in the area. Most of the players operate on the principle that "Rules are guidelines to encourage  plot progression and character growth." As opposed to the all to common misconception that rules are meant to make your character more powerful. I have seen many of the photos of the events they have held and heard what players have had to say and it sounds promising. Plus it offers perhaps the cheapest game in GA at a mere 35 dollars for a weekend event with full access facilities (Cabins, showers, and restrooms)!

After going through the character creation process, I have to say that I haven't seen so much available content or world information. The "Knowne world" of Aveogst is huge and the countries are unique and have in-depth literature to investigate to help flesh out your character well. I was shocked at how well developed the information for the politcal and religious arena were. Every detail has been seen to, even the in-game date is interesting. I was asked to create a character that I wanted to play*before* I looked at the abilities and skills. So I decided to try something new and go with a non-combatant character and created a smith. After I read up on current events in the world, ( and it was quite the read! ) I decided on where my concept fit in to the world. Then it was off to flesh out my background based on the information provided. normally I have trouble finding enough content to fill two pages for a background. With Avegost, I was able to hit 5 pages easy and then decided to stop before I got carried away with it, though I doubt the staff would have minded. So with my character's background all fleshed out I headed to pick out skills.

Avegost had a plethora of skills to choose from and their elemental affinities make for individualized characters as well as stick to in-game archetypes. I focused on making my smith just that. There were many merits and abilities designed with the craft-driven player in mind. It was almost refreshing to be stepping away from the fighting style. I found that there are many skills that provide synergy while preventing someone from min-maxing too much ( though there is one or two players that have as there is "that guy" in every game. ) With skills in hand, I sent my character off to the plot so that they could review it and let me know any important information the character may know.

And with that I await the game anxiously in the end of February. It will be my first event and shall not be my last if the game is half as good as it has been promoted to me. For all of you folks who live in Georgia, come on out and try the game out. We all have our games that we will always like, but remember that diversity not only engages you as a person, it helps out the community at large! So all of you NERO and SOLAR folks come on out and enjoy a game that is a break away from the norm. Come out and enjoy the engaging world of AVEGOST.

Eidolon and DK and ROC, oh my!

    Tuesday, August 25, 2009, 10:33 PM [General]

So with Eidolon coming back from it's hiatus, I am elated. With the next practice scheduled for this Sunday, Aug. 30th, I am excited to get back into the swing of my character. Then I started thinking about my other characters, and characters yet to come. I am wanting to check out DK since it is free and by all accounts an awesome RP environment rich with combat and not vice versa. The rumor is that it is first a role playing experience before anything else and that is what I feel is compelling my interest. I am also going to be heading up North with a character eventually. A band of socalers are making an Orc encampment as players and a few of us are going to make a dark elf band as well. Both are supported up north as they were willing to work us into the game world and thanks to their willingness, will be landing anywhere from 10-20 new players into there game. I know the Orc group is going to be awesome, If it weren't for my desire to demonstrate diversity through dividing us into multiple factions I would join them in a heartbeat. Anyways, if you are interested there is a yahoo group. If you are interested in Eidolon and Dying Kingdoms they have websites and links. Just look for them. ^^

Hopefully I will see some of you out there and hope that you can support many of the local larps.

The awesomeness that was this weekend.

    Tuesday, December 2, 2008, 5:37 PM [General]

I haven't posted in quite sometime but I just can't keep to myself the excitement this weekend held for me. Eidolon is an Intrigue-based game with loads of political and economical goodness. And this weekend saw a new peak of PvP, Trials for murder, street brawls, and occult-like deaths. So much happened that I cannot say because it might spoil the surprise for you if you come out. This is a good game for anyone who wishes to be in a more serious role-playing environment where you have to think in order to survive and be careful who you place your trust in. There is good Cast-character development and interaction as well to keep things mixed up. If you are interested please feel free to join the Eidolon group here and introduce yourself on the Eidolon website. Hope to see you in game sometime! ^_^
