Help for a person Intrested in LARP

Greetings. I'm new here but I'm not that new to cosplaying and getting into character, of which I've had a few people tell me over the years that I should join a LARP group. Just recently I've started getting interested and looking into LARP. So my question is, which LARP group would be best to try to visit for a newb? (or should it be noob? LOL) Any suggestions would be great I live around San Jose so anything close would be wonderful. Thank you for any and all help in Advance!
