About Me:In 1991, I was making plastic (but realistic looking) armor for stage and screen when a gentleman came down from Massachusetts looking for a breastplate. When I asked what it was for, he put the 2nd Edition NERO rulebook into my hand and that was the start of my long love affair for LARPS. I still have that original book and whenever I open it, I get the same, excited feeling about LARPing that I did when I first read the pages.
I moved out to CA in 1992 and went to my first LARP that was hosted by Living Fiction. It was an incredible game. On my way home, I thought, "Hey I could do that," and the first thoughts of Adventures Unlimited were born.
I didn't care for either NERO nor the IFGS' style of combat or play so I decided to make my own. A darker, low fantasy, more 'realistic' combat one and I was happy to say that AU was the premiere LARP in the Bay Area for 7 years.
These days, I just attend as many LARPs as I can in order to help promote the LARP community here and abroad. I have played in games from East Coast to West Coast and even in the UK. I help many to come up with new, fun mechanics for their games.
I have always been a creative person and these days I am making personalized props for the various LARPs I attend - anything from latex masks to casting pendants in pewter. If you have an idea for an effect, costume or prop and not sure about how to make it, give me a ring - I'll be happy to chat about it.
Unfortunately, I was only able to attend Wyrdcon from 11am until 7pm on Saturday but even in that short time, I had a blast! It was a much better convention than I had expected it to be, being the first time and all of that. And some of the presentations were amazing. The people from the Nordic LARPing community were incredible with their presentation and other panels helped to either to remind me of what made a great game or even give me some more good advice. Such ideas were:
Creating IG physical representations for games skills and abilities so that the player has a constant reminder about what their characters can still do. i.e. - no more, "I forgot I still had a dodge" idea.
Use OOG descriptors for internal monologues
Definitely use foreshadowing
Use other media other than NPCs to drive plots
Award some sort of bonus for proper character deaths
If your player's way to survive your game is to avoid plots, you're doing it wrong

[General]
So two San Francisco Bay Area games happening this month. One is this weekend for the Alliance (www.alliancesf.net) - more info under the forums section about it.
I'm hoping to be at both however my girlfriend is coming in for a convention the next week so money might be a little tight as she is the princess and I become the pauper.
This was a weapon made for by Wynar from Atlanta Georgia. This is made for Dagorhir which does not allow latex covers I will post sometime soon some of his finished gear.
/hugs
LinaI'll try to make some ^_^
