I can't really recall the last time I've had a LARP excursion. I almost did a few weekends ago, but of course, dad didn't really agree with it.
I've been searching avidly for a job, while trying my best in college, and I realized something else. Once I start doing the life gig, I'm going to have to start paying for everything myself. With all of the food, books, and classes I'm going to have to start paying for myself, I don't think I'll even have money left over for LARP. The thought really upsets me. Sure, a lot of places do the cheap to free NPC gig, but there are LARPS I like to PC in, like Eidolon, that are $50. I really don't think I'm going to be able to afford it all for a very long time.
For now, I'm going to be working for the LA County Fair as a pirate, but that's only through the fall time. It doesn't help that I've been having a full scale art block and am discouraged by everything that I draw. How am I supposed to be able to fulfill my dreams if I can't do anything right! I guess I have to wait to finally take art classes... you can only teach yourself so much... /uber sigh
=(

Keep teaching yourself as much as possible. I never took an art class that helped me in my life and wasted lots of money trying to learn that and other skills that I could just learn on my own. The internet teaches you everything now adays or you can learn from people you meet who are better at something you want to get better at (I learned more from people in person, and from exploring the internet). I've gotten many well-paying jobs by just being very good at every little thing I love to do (websites, logos, illustration, photo touchups, costume design, music, etc). Find a job that pays your bills and you'll be surprised at how much money you actually have to do other things. When you start college, start by taking the classes that will excel you the fastest, not the ones that don't matter to you. And if you doubt the teacher's interest in your education to such a level that it holds you back, then transfer out to a new teacher before you waste too much time. These are things I had to live and learn. Establish good credit too, but only use it for emergencies. Good Credit on your name will get you a loan on your first self-employed business, ease with renting or buying your first residence, and a lot more. You do great with modeling and art, so strengthen those by working with others you know while you figure out the harder other life things on your mind. If you can plan one big event now, do it and stick to it. You'll be way ahead in so much, even though you will probably always have a shitload on your plate like I do. LOL! Believe it or not, I cant count the number of times I've hung out or worked with big names (not bragging but dreaming) and I am always close to getting big things to happen or running smack into the middle of them (currently on the verge of another one). ;) You're definitely high up on the food chain so don't let things pass you by.
