I grew up on D&D. Been a roleplayer since 1980, when I was 10 - and it was this game that took me into worlds of joint imagination. I was one of those that thought highly of him as a individual and an artist. I use his books (especially Roleplaying Mastery) as resource material and inspiration to this day, and for the work in the Live Combat LARP hobby I have been lucky enough to do.
I remember a convention here in California he went to called Orccon, back in the early 90's. My friends Wil Hutton and Shawn Lipis rushed him, fell to their knees, and did the whole "we're not worthy!" scene from Wayne's World. He rolled with it, one cool cat.
He is among the very few people that continue to inspire me. I will miss him greatly.
